As Director of both the Cardiovascular Health & Lipidology and Lipid Apheresis at the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at North Shore University Hospital, Co-director of the Lipid Center, Guy L. Mintz MD, FACC has over 30 years of cardiovascular experience in the areas of preventive cardiology and general cardiology with added expertise in Lipidology.
Dr. Mintz is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine as well as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, American College of Chest Physicians, National Lipid Association, and American Society of Preventive Cardiology. Dr. Mintz is Co-Director of the Lipid Center. He is on the board of directors of the National Lipid Association, he is National Chairman of membership and the early career development program for the National Lipid Association. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Northeast Lipid Association and is also the President. Additionally, he is on the therapeutics committee, membership committee, and graduate medical education committee for the National Lipid Association and has an active role in its mentor program.
Dr. Mintz has received many awards for clinical teaching and has consistently received recognition as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. Dr. Mintz is a clinical preceptor in the Advanced Clinical Experience Program for third year medical students at the Zucker School of Medicine and is a clinical preceptor in cardiology for the St. John’s University Physician Assistant program. Dr. Mintz has lectured locally, regionally, and nationally in the areas of preventive cardiology, cholesterol management, cardiac risk factor modification, hypertension, inflammation, and cardiovascular disease.
After starting his own cardiovascular practice in 1989, he took on a new challenge joining the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital and Northwell Health System as director of Cardiovascular Health and Lipidology, bringing his leadership, a wealth of clinical experience, and his personalized individualized approach to patient care. He is committed to patients and their families in delivering high quality cardiac care.

A Lipid Specialist is a certified physician specializing in the prevention of dyslipidemia (cholesterol and other lipid disorders disorders) or related metabolic diseases (such as diabetes) which often lead to heart disease, stroke or atherosclerosis (vascular disease).
